Grimes Chapel is Open for Prayer

Daily from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
(Closing at Noon on Fridays)

As tensions escalate in the Middle East — and as the United States becomes more deeply involved — I urge you to join me in praying for God's peace to prevail.

This is not just a moment of political maneuvering between nations. It's personal. We have Bethany members with family living just minutes from the U.S. base in Qatar, who have come under missile attack and are unable to evacuate. Like many others, they are sheltering in place.

War is never just about governments — it is people who bear the cost. In times like these, the church is called to be a people of prayer, peace, and presence.

To that end, we are opening Grimes Chapel for personal prayer and reflection (closing at noon on Fridays). We hope this will be a sacred space for any in our community seeking stillness, intercession, or simply a moment with God.

For those planning to visit, the best place to park is in the lot at the corner of Anderson Mill Road and Swallow Drive, near the side entrance to the Discipleship Building.

We also continue to gather on first and third Wednesdays at 6:00pm for Contemplative Worship — a quiet service of scripture, prayer, and peace.

Please keep the situation in your prayers. Let us pray for a de-escalation, for those caught in the crossfire, and for God's intervention in a world straining under the weight of violence and fear.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

With hope and resolve,
Pastor Wade Powell
Senior Pastor, Bethany UMC
