Job Summary:
Bethany UMC is looking for a high-energy, growth-minded, and faith-filled leader to direct its Student Ministries Program, providing leadership and oversight to programming, purpose, and people (students, parents, and volunteer leaders). The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for students and their families and enjoy spending time with both. He or she will also have a strong faith in God and desire to help students and families grow in their faith. Finally, the ideal candidate will thrive at Bethany if he or she has new ideas, can communicate creatively, and wants to engage our community and neighborhood in intentional ways. The Director of Student Ministries will work closely with the church staff, volunteers, and parents to create a safe and supportive environment where students can learn and thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead weekly youth group meetings and other activities for students grades 6-12
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students
- Build relationships with students and their families
- Provide spiritual guidance and support to students
- Organize and implement mission and outreach opportunities for students
- Supervise administrative and intern staff
- Represent the student ministry program at church events and in the community
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferred in religious education, youth ministry, or a related field)
- Experience working with students in a ministry setting
- Strong knowledge of the Bible and the Christian faith
- Demonstrated faith and personal discipleship
- Understanding and knowledge of the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan Theology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and plan events
- Commitment to lifelong learning and growth
