The Best Christmas Stories You've Never Heard
Discovering the Jesse Tree: God’s character was reflected in the great stories of the Old Testament before it was revealed in the birth of Jesus. We see Christ in the faithfulness of Noah, the generosity of Abraham, and the might of Moses. Some are less familiar. We can find them in the Jesse Tree, the Family Tree of Jesus. They, too, can help us to draw near to Christ as we draw near to Christmas Day. Come hear the stories as we light the Advent candles and sing the carols that bring us joy.

|NOV 26 & 27||The Story of Jesse
The prophet Isaiah made a promise to God’s people, "a root shall grow from the stump of Jesse.” This was a sign of hope when it felt as if their family tree had become nothing but a dead stump. As we begin the season of Advent, which takes us to Christmas, come be inspired by the story of Jesse and of Jesus’ family tree.
|DEC 03 & 04||The Story of Josiah
Advent is a time of preparation and repentance, a good time to come hear the story of King Josiah, who courageously called the people back into following God’s law of love. In a long list of good and bad kings, Josiah was one of the good ones.
|DEC 10 & 11||The Gift of Celebration
In the bleak midwinter, hope breaks forth. Throughout the Old Testament, up through Jesus’ family tree, there were those who led God’s people in joyous celebration, reminding them of the promise, pointing out every answered prayer. We recognize heroes like Miriam and Mary on our Jesse Tree, and sing along with them in a special Christmas Cantata, The Gift.

|DEC 17 & 18||The Story of Abigail
As we move toward Christmas, we tell the story of Abigail, who intervened and made peace when her people were on the brink of war.

|The Story of Jesus
