For over three years the Christians on the Go Sunday School Class has enjoyed a relationship with Amy Crawford and many residents at Faith Home Restoration. In the beginning we adopted the women who were residents as a Christmas mission 3 years ago. Since then, they have “adopted” us, and we have gained so much through their witness and sharing small parts of their faithful walk to restored lives and relationships with God and other Christians.

Many of our Sunday School members have become friends with Amy and other residents. Just before the COVID-19 shutdown, Amy shared her story and God’s work in her life with the COTG class at Bethany. It was a meaningful testimony which blessed many of us in ways only hearing of God’s work in real lives can. We have helped deliver produce from Fresh Food for All, donated household items and clothing, and enjoyed fellowship each Christmas. We now give small quarterly donations to support the mission at the home:

“The mission of Faith Home Restoration is to see women walk through the restoration process with God and share our experience, strength, and hope to encourage every woman each step of the way. Giving them a safe place to call home.”

At any given time, Amy lives in the house with four to seven other women. Usually the women come to her from treatment centers, prison, or other life-changing trauma. Most of the residents need help with recovery, as well as a place to live while they find jobs and get their bearings in new beginnings. They work a Celebrate Recovery Program, attend church, help with household chores, and find jobs to contribute to household expenses. The residents stay anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on their needs. Amy provides Bible study, Christian mentoring, and mentoring in recovery.

Recently, the COVID-19 epidemic has caused all but one of the women to lose their jobs. Even Amy has lost her full time employment, and is praying to find new financial opportunities while she trusts God to show her the way. Currently, the women are making and selling beautiful beaded crosses to help pay the bills. They are also searching for opportunities to clean houses or office spaces. Amy continues to appreciate financial contributions, as well as contributions of household goods. Please check their website to see specific needs. They are preparing to have a large “garage sale” on June 13 and would happily accept donations for that. Amy continuously reminds us that prayers are what she values most. She is also so faithful in praying for each of us.
