God calls us to care for others, but we cannot do that very well if don't care well for ourselves. Bethany Care Ministries encourages all individuals, families, communities, and caregivers to take the best care of themselves as possible. We offer a variety of classes, support groups, and services to help you care for your whole self: mind, body, soul, and spirit. Join us and experience God’s gift of health and new life!
Bethany Care supports the overall wellbeing of our brothers and sisters, and encourages all to take care of themselves spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally – the whole you. Our prayer is that you are mindful of your holistic needs and pursue wellbeing in all the ways you can, not neglecting to nurture your whole self.
For years we have partnered with counseling centers throughout Austin – such as Austin Wellness, New Life Institute, Northwest Counseling and Wellness Center, and Center for Relational Care -, Integral Care, and New Milestones Foundation, to connect our loved ones with resources for their mental and emotional needs. Three of our Bethany members have also recently found their mission field in the services of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and we are offering classes on site for those caring for a loved one with a mental health concern – check out the details below. We are exploring an expansion of our connection with mental health ministries to better address the needs in our community, and welcome your participation in caring for and being cared for by your family in Christ at Bethany.

NAMI Family-to-Family - Next Course - TBD
Family-to-Family is a free, 12-session education program for family, partners, friends and significant others of adults living with mental illness. The course is designed to help all family members understand and support their loved one living with mental illness, while maintaining their own well-being. The course includes information on illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression and other mental health conditions. The 2-1/2 hour class meets for 12 consecutive weeks, and each week’s topic builds on the previous topics covered. The program is taught by trained teachers who are also family members and know what it is like to have a loved one living with mental illness.
Check back on this page for announcements of how we grow to offer God’s love more widely in this important area of concern, and be greatly blessed by being a part of God’s beautiful healing, care and love!
As part of our effort to provide loving and effective pastoral care, Bethany United Methodist Church has a collaborative agreement with Austin Wellness, PLLC and The Center for Relational Care. The pastors of Bethany United Methodist Church have been impressed with the pastoral counseling done by these counselors, in a variety of areas, including marriage, family, child and dependency issues. This counseling can be a strong resource for God's healing of spiritual, emotional and relational struggles. While we provide counseling space on our campus, these counseling services are separate and independent organizations with no supervision by Bethany United Methodist Church or any financial arrangements through the church.
Counseling services are offered at a reduced rate by Austin Wellness, PLLC supervised Intern.
