Job Seekers Support Group

Tuesday Mornings, 8:00 - 9:30 AM
Church Office Conference Room

The Bethany UMC Job Seekers Support Group is active and available to assist those in the Greater Austin Community. We are a small ecumenical and spiritual group with success in directing persons to resources as well as helping them gain confidence in their quest. Over 500 people have passed through our doors since February 2002.

Guests are always welcome. Snacks and coffee are provided.  The group is open to anyone seeking new employment or seeking to change jobs.

Erin Williams, Director of Congregational Care Ministries at Bethany UMC,  guides the discussions every Tuesday morning with a warm smile, a friendly soul, and a genuine interest in facilitating discussion, and challenging the group to set short term goals.

Your Prayers Are Precious To Us

Please remember those people, inside and outside of Bethany, who may be unemployed or under-employed and are seeking jobs. Cecilia enthusiastically facilitates the programs and early morning.

The Bethany Job Seekers Support Group has sponsored various career-oriented programs that have been blessed by gracious members who have volunteered their gifts and talents. Occasionally, we have utilized outside expertise to assist our program development.  We appreciate all of their support and encouragement. Here are some of the topics:

  • Choosing a new direction
  • Marketing yourself
  • Trusting and believing in God during times of change
  • Where do I go from here with my life?

We invite you to assist in strengthening the mission of this ministry. Many job openings are unadvertised and are filled through an informal network.  Prayerfully we ask your assistance for the following:

  • Do you know of any positions that are open within your organization?
  • Are you a hiring manager? We encourage you to consider assisting us in networking.
  • Do you know of an organization or department expanding with new positions becoming available in the near future?
  • Do you know a person who is now under-employed or unemployed? Please Encourage them to visit us.
