Connection Celebration Dates & Information

Why Join a Church?

Christians were never designed to follow God on their own, but as part of a community. We welcome everyone who wants to worship with us without conditions, and we welcome continuing visitors. However, we encourage Christians to connect to Christ’s Church in way that allows them to be cared for pastorally, worship with a genuine community, grow as disciples, and be equipped for serving in God’s Kingdom locally and across the globe. We call this commitment membership, but the purpose is for you to commit to the Church and for the church to commit to you, so that God’s purposes can be accomplished.

How to Join Bethany UMC

For our membership process, we ask that you come to a Connection Celebration where you can learn more about our church, meet the pastors and key ministry staff, find out about service and learning opportunities, and join if you’re ready.

In these two hours you will:

  • Meet the pastors and key ministry staff
  • Learn about Bethany history and Methodist theology
  • Understand the significance and expectations of membership
  • Discover many Worship+2 opportunities and receive guidance on how to learn, grow, serve, and connect at Bethany UMC.
  • Participate in a membership ceremony** if you are ready to make Bethany your church home (there is no obligation to join if you attend).**
  • Learn about connection opportunities after the membership ceremony
  • Fellowship with ministry volunteers and other new members
  • Take a tour of the church campus

** We have a membership ceremony for those who wish to join the church, including an opportunity to be baptized if you are not already. Baptism is the only requirement for membership. There is a brief coffee and cookie break before the membership ceremony to allow those who do not wish to join the church to leave at that time and continue to discern if this is where they want to make their church home.

Our prayer is that we can help you Experience God's Love, Know Jesus Christ, and Grow in His Image through our community of faith at Bethany.
