Kregg Phillips Receives Patriot Award01/26/2010
Kregg, one of Bethany's youth Sunday school teachers and an Austin firefighter, was honored with the Patriot Award in recognition of his support to AFD firefighters who serve in the National Gaurd and Reserve. Congratulations Kregg! - he's the guy in the blue shirt.

House of Friends

KUT (NPR Radio 90.5 FM), Morning Edition did a piece on dementia respite programs that features Bethany's House of Friends program. Reporter Julie Moody visited the House of Friends today (March 26) and interviewed several family caregivers, Susie Petersen (director), and another volunteer. She also took some photos.

Bethany member, Gus Browning, will have his devotion published in the July/August issue of The Upper Room. His devotion titled "Bags of Grace" is the daily devotion for Wednesday, July 30. Gus enjoys travel, gardening, photography, coin & stamp collecting, and taking care of his grandchildren.
Former Bethany Youth appointed by Governor Perry!

Senior psychology major Nicole Lozano was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry earlier this month to serve as the student representative on the Texas State University Board of Regents.
Effective June 1, Lozano will become the third student regent since Perry signed legislation creating the role in 2005.
“The fact that I was selected is amazing, and I am incredibly excited about being given this chance,” Lozano said. “It’s a unique way to get to know how the university system works, and something that I believe would be a good thing to know, especially as someone who would like to work for a university later on.” ...
