The Sacrament of Holy Baptism

Baptism is an important part of our worship and community life at Bethany UMC. It is our initiation into the Body of Christ, the Church, and it joins us with Christians all around the world.  It is one of two sacraments that we celebrate in the United Methodist Church (the other being Holy Communion).  The gift of baptism is celebrated within the context of worship, with the community of faith present as witnesses of and participants in God’s grace at work in the life of the one being baptized.

We highlight the significance of baptism by scheduling baptisms in worship services only on the 4^th Sundays of the month.  We also schedule baptisms on Saturdays, except for the Saturdays on which we celebrate Holy Communion (Saturdays which occur with 1^st Sundays), and certain Saturdays in December. Baptism Classes are held on the 3^rd Sunday of each month, January - November (no class in December)  at 11:00 AM in Room D-208.  You must attend one of these classes prior to the baptism. Baptism scheduling forms are available in the church office or online:
